As part of our company philosophy as an IT engineering firm
concerned first with quality and service, we internally test and determine for
ourselves if a particular service offering is sound. We are a rubber-on-the-road organization, and
are often the last of a line of guys who have to make it work.
From a strategic point, we also are positioning our company
to take advantage of our broad areas of expertise, and in doing so realize that
we have the experience now to assist business entities to successfully navigate
the intersection of policy and technology.
For the most part, this effort involves initial and ongoing security
audits, as well as the full gamut of data reliability, with its associated concerns
of storage, backup, archiving as well as continuity of business and data
compliancy.
A large part of that equation is data storage, as it plays
into many aspects of the data reliability statement. As a company, we have premier partners
supplying parts of that offering, but were in need of a business partner
capable of addressing the ‘volume disk’ aspects and associated utility modules.
Until we found PillarData, our thoughts were that disk
storage was dominated by old line standard system solutions, often just
repackaged. New features were just
pressed onto existing systems and not part of the core. Also, we found that these solutions were not
scalable or capable of using different size disks, required too much time of an
expensive 3-party trained engineer to fix, configure and reconfigure and were
not respective of the data stored or the time / usage of the data. Also we were constantly frustrated by the
inefficiency of capacity on storage disk structures and the decline in
performance as capacity demands increased.
In short, they were too expensive and did not integrate into our quality
of solutions, nor most importantly, they did they fit within our emerging MSP
platform.
With PillarData, we have a partner who did not grow
organically, but sprung full grown from the wallet of Larry Ellison, completely
mature, with the goal of squeezing the waste out of disk storage by building in
a quality of service model from the beginning; delivering a truly simple
customer service and configurable system, with smart disk trays; and a clear
plan to keep performance matched with capacity.
As well, Pillar integrates into our MWT MSP NOC Dashboard, so we can
continue to offer 24x7 monitoring and management.
We are excited about this partnership because we believe in
the value it brings to our customers and to our company mission.
