Microsoft 365 Updates for the Week of June 8th

Heads-up WolfPack, new SharePoint reports are coming.  Read on for all the details!

New Feature: SharePoint Auto Digest Email
SharePoint Auto-News Digest sends automated email to users in your company about the latest News posts that they have not yet read. Using Microsoft intelligence, a curated selection of News posts are shared with users through an email that comes from SharePoint.
Users will start to receive a weekly mail from SharePoint Online containing news that they have not yet read based on sites that they are following.
If users are not happy with the emails, they can unsubscribe from the email by clicking on the unsubscribe link.

New Report: Cumulative analytics for SharePoint hubs
Microsoft is adding a new report on the SharePoint site usage page to provide cumulative usage analytics for SharePoint hubs
SharePoint hub sites make it easy to organize information and collaboration based on project, department, division, or region. This report provides site owners and members of SharePoint hub sites with analytics for their hubs. The hubs analytics page provides cumulative analytics (including unique viewers, total visits, top sites, and most popular content) for all sites that are part of the hub.
To view these reports, site owners or members need to go to the hub site for which they want to see usage data, click the settings gear Settings icon, and then select Site usage data. By default, users see analytics for all sites in the hub. They can choose to see data for only the hub site.

New Report: SharePoint, average time spent per user report
The Average time spent per user report shows the trend line for the time users spent on SharePoint site pages and news posts for 7-day and 30-day periods. The average metric is calculated by comparing the total time spent on that page with the number of the unique visitors on that page in the given timeframe.

This report currently does not provide the average value for 90-day period and does not support lists, documents, or administrative pages (such as the site usage or site permissions page). Mobile app views are currently not incorporated in this report

Updated Feature: OneDrive and OneDrive for Business file upload limits
Microsoft has increased OneDrive file size limits to 100GB.  This is not just for Office files, but any file.
Also included in this announcement is the arrival of differential sync.  This will allow you to sync only parts of the file that have been changed. This can be especially useful for situations where you could be editing a photo or video.  Microsoft says this will also make the file sync times faster and reduce the time files need to upload, as well as its overall consumed bandwidth.

New Feature: Office 365 ProPlus is now Microsoft 365 Apps
New name, same price and no change in subscription.
So, why was the subscription name changed?  Microsoft renamed Office 365 ProPlus along with the following subscriptions to better reflect the current range of features and benefits in each package:
  • Office 365 Business Essentials becomes Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  • Office 365 Business Premium becomes Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Microsoft 365 Business becomes Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Office 365 Business becomes Microsoft 365 Apps for business
  • Office 365 ProPlus becomes Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
As mentioned above, there are no price changes and the same apps and services are available.
