Microsoft Teams News Roundup

To facilitate easier installation process of the Microsoft Teams desktop app, its now coming to existing installs of Office 365 ProPlus and Microsoft Business Premium.  Since everyone in an organization needs to communicate and collaborate, it’s important to make Teams available to all users and this will make it easier to deploy the Teams app to your clients.

Avoid conflicts of interests with Information Barriers.  This feature helps users limit which individuals can communicate with each other in Teams.  For instance, user may need to limit the disclosure of sensitive information or adhere to ethical walls requirements and other similar requirements.

Microsoft is bringing Announcements to Team channels.  Consider the following scenarios:  you have a new team member or celebrating the launch of a product, you can now post an “Announcement” complete with a headline and background image to ensure that the post draws the appropriate attention.

Manage the discovery of Private Teams.  Depending on the organization, you may wish for private teams to be discoverable.  Administrators can now control whether they want to allow private teams to be discovered.  When enabled, they will show up in search results and will be included in the team gallery alongside public teams.  This will make it easier for people to search and find the private teams that they need to join.

Single toolbar for controls in meetings and calls.  The interface has been updated to reduce the clutter.  Gone are the 5 circles, replaced with a single toolbar.  This change will be for Windows, Mac and web clients.

Video support in Google Chrome.  While joining Teams Meetings on the Chrome browser, you can now share your own video and receive video of others.
