Generate Captions On-Demand

Users who own video in SharePoint and OneDrive will now have the option to generate cations on-demand.

In the past, in order for videos to contain closed captions, the video owner would need to upload a .vtt file. Creating these files are time consuming and not the best use of time if there are many long videos that need to be supplemented.

Soon, Microsoft will provide an option to general a transcript and captions on demand for any video file. A user who does not have a transcript but has edit permission on a video will be able to navigate to Media Settings in the player and use the Transcript and captions setting to generate captions in English. Once the transcript has been generated, the user can refresh the page to see the file and turn on Transcript and captions to display the file as closed captions for their video.

Users will also be able to delete the caption file.
Any viewer will be able to enable captions during playback via the Closed Captions button.
