Office 365: Delegate Permissions for Mailboxes

Wolf Pack! Be on the look out, you could start getting questions on the help desk or when onsite about this long sought after function in Office 365! For a long time someone who is delegated to manage your box, has been able to do so from the desktop application. Now they can do so from the mobile application versions as well.

Per Microsoft:

Delegates who have been granted full access permissions to send email and respond to calendar invitations on the behalf of another person will soon be able to do so from Outlook for iOS and Android.
  • We'll be gradually rolling this out in mid-February 2020.
  • The rollout should be completed by mid-April.

How does this affect me?

You can use the Exchange admin center (EAC) to assign full access permissions to a mailbox so that other users can access the mailbox or send email messages that appear to come from the mailbox (using Send As or Send on Behalf permissions).

With this release, we are extending this functionality from the desktop to mobile devices.

This release affects only delegates who have full access permissions to the owner’s inbox; it does not apply to groups. Selective folder permissions will be supported in a later release.
