Office 365 Updates for the Week of July 1st

Editing list in SharePoint is becoming more and more like working with Excel with the improvements to the Quick Edit mode.  What’s new is that you can now easily edit document metadata.  Along with this update, users can drag and drop column widths just like Excel.  Targeted release customers can expect this feature in early July with regular tenants receiving this update in early October.

SharePoint administrators get some help this week with an update to the admin roles page.  The main benefit to the page update is that its easier to see who has admin access and to assign roles.  The page has been updated so now you can view, add, and remove roles for specific users straight from the Active Users page.  The list of administrators will also be exportable.

SharePoint News has been receiving a lot of attention lately with the announcement of SharePoint Home Sites and New is a big piece of that.  This week, Microsoft is introducing a big update for News.  The News page will now help users discover new SharePoint pages and news posts in your company.  At the bottom of news posts, you will begin seeing SharePoint recommendations that are most relevant to you.  Targeted release customers can expect to see this beginning in July with worldwide availability by the end of July.
